Italian logistics sector faces national strike

A nationwide general strike is planned for 28 November in Italy, with expected disruption across the country's logistics sector.

The labour action has been organised by a coalition of grassroots unions, including Cub, Usb, Cobas, Adl-Cobas, Clap, Sial-Cobas, Sgb, Si-Cobas, Flai Trasporti e Servizi, Fisi, Usi, and Usi-Cit, with the potential for additional groups to join.

According to local news provider Transport Europa IT, the Ministry of Transport has indicated that the strike will affect the entire freight sector, spanning warehouses, distribution, and port activities, with expected consequences for supply chains, deliveries, and port operations.

Significant participation is also expected at major ports, notably Genoa, Trieste, Livorno, and Civitavecchia, where dockworkers have previously established pickets.

In addition, rail services will be suspended for 24 hours, from 21:00 on 27 November to 21:00 on 28 November, potentially resulting in cancellations and route changes.
