Planned terminal meetings, rail strikes and infrastructure works between 21 and 29 May are expected to cause limited operational impact

Italy faces series of coordinated transport and labour disruptions

Kuehne+Nagel reports that a trade union meeting is scheduled at the Trieste Marine Terminal on 21 May from 10:00 to 13:00.

Similarly, the PSA-SECH Terminal at the Port of Genoa has confirmed a trade union meeting on 27 May between 11:30 and 13:30.

During this time, regular service operations may not be guaranteed.

Furthermore, the Italian Railway Network (RFI) has announced infrastructure works on the La Spezia–Padova route for 25 and 26 May. These activities are expected to directly affect intermodal connections along the corridor.

Other activities impacting intermodal transport will take place from 25 to 29 May 2026; a national road transport strike has been planned and is intended to highlight rising operating costs, particularly fuel prices.

The strike will involve truck drivers and freight transport companies nationwide.

A nationwide general strike has also been announced for staff at other freight railway companies. This action will take place from 21:00 on 28 May until 21:00 on 29 May 2026, with potential delays, cancellations, and limitations to train services.

Despite multiple planned actions, impacts are expected to remain limited.
