Antwerp disruption halts export handling as pilot strike impacts operations

French liner CMA CGM reports that gate-in operations at the Port of Antwerp have been suspended since Monday, 29 June, and is expecting vessel schedule delays as a result.

The suspension is caused by an industrial action by Belgian maritime pilots, impacting vessel movements and export cargo acceptance.

Current conditions mean that the intake of export shipments via Antwerp is severely limited, with operations not proceeding as usual.

Consequently, transport movements connected to export flows are also affected. Trucks and inland waterway vessels are not being processed for export until further notice, reflecting the operational limitations in place.

These combined developments continue to disrupt standard handling and movement processes at Antwerp, with multiple parts of the export chain currently unable to function under normal conditions.
