A strike at the Port of Rotterdam has been confirmed for 4 September, with terminals and depots now providing more detailed information on expected truck handling disruptions.
APM Terminals MVII will suspend truck access after the 10:15-10:45 time slot until late evening, while RST and RSC Rotterdam will halt truck handling between 10:00 and 20:00.
ECT Delta and Euromax are also expected to close, although final operating times remain under review.
RWG has confirmed normal truck operations, while Hapag-Lloyd Depot, HGT Rotterdam Depot and UWT currently expect to remain operational.
Operators of QTerminals Kramer are evaluating the level of potential disruption based on how many employees are participating in the strike. In the event of large participation, it is possible that the terminal will have to close.
These developments follow earlier warnings of a nationwide port strike on 4 September.
The action has been announced by unions in connection with opposition to social security reform plans. Stakeholders have been advised that conditions may change as terminals continue to review their operating plans.
Increased congestion is expected before interruptions begin and after operations resume. Additional pressure may also affect facilities that remain open as cargo flows are redirected.
