Heavy rainfall caused extensive flooding in Tamil Nadu and Kerala earlier this week. As a result, the port of Tuticorin suffered a power outage impacting yard and vessel operations.
According to a carrier advisory, power has not yet been restored at the port. Nevertheless, Dakshin Bharat Gateway Terminal (DBGT) is able to perform ship operations using two quay cranes and generator power.
According to Kuehne+Nagel's seaexplorer, the MSC Juanita F and SCI Mumbai are currently in port. The Wan Hai 367 departed earlier today.
As a result of the lack of power, productivity is low, and carriers have adjusted vessel schedules to limit delays to regular services. As per current vessel schedules, the Kuo Lung and FSL Kelang are expected in the next few days. However, this is subject to change.
The empty yard facility, Sravan, is operational and functioning with skeleton staff. However, the office area, including the CMS counter, is still out of power and remains closed.

Local news reported that the Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala will likely witness heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next few days.
On Sunday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the severe weather is caused by a cyclonic circulation initially located over the Equatorial Indian Ocean and the southwest Bay of Bengal.
This new storm comes a few weeks after cyclone Michaung, which caused heavy floods in the area and disrupted transportation and port operations.
According to Kuehne+Nagel sources, further disruptions are expected due to the new rainfall in the next few days.
The storm has already impacted operations at the Port of Tuticorin, causing power outages and suspension of CFS operations. The impact is likely to remain in the next few days.
