China, Thailand, Vietnam, and Hong Kong are bracing for Typhoon Wutip, which is forecast to strike southern China between 13 and 14 June.

Its initial landfall is expected along the coast of Hainan’s Lingshui to Ledong region early on 13 June. The storm is then projected to move inland, reaching parts of western Guangdong or Guangxi on 14 June before gradually weakening as it tracks northeast.

The typhoon has already brought scattered thunderstorms and heavy rainfall to several areas, including Hainan, Guangdong, and Guangxi.

Local news reported torrential downpours in locations such as Qiongzhong and Wuzhishan in Hainan and Zhaoqing in Guangdong.

Meanwhile, Thailand's Meteorological Department has issued warnings as the monsoon continues to affect the lower North and upper Northeast of Thailand.

The conditions are expected to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall, particularly in the Northeast, and rough sea conditions.

As the typhoon progresses northward over the weekend, heavy rainfall is expected to extend into East China, affecting provinces such as Jiangxi, Fujian, and Zhejiang.
