ONE, Maersk ships collide at Hong Kong Port

Vessels were identified as ONE Columba and Clifford Maersk, delays to vessel schedules are to be expected

Container ship ONE Columba and the berthed Clifford Maersk collided at Kwai Tsing Container Terminal in Hong Kong.

 

According to Marine Traffic, the incident occurred on Friday, 28 February, around 8:40 PM local time.

 

The 14,026-TEU ship ONE Columba was arriving from Chiwan, China, when it collided with Maersk's docked vessel.

 

The event caused minor damage to both containerships.

 

Clifford Maersk, a 9640-TEU vessel, lost three containers in the collision, but they were eventually retrieved.

 

According to the Hong Kong Maritime Department, the incident did not cause any pollution or injury.

 

As a result of the incident, delays to vessel schedules can be expected.
