Empty container yard operations in Mundra, India, are facing disruption due to an ongoing strike by MECYASA (Mundra Empty Container Yards & Allied Services Provider Association), affecting key container handling activities in empty yards.

According to Hapag-Lloyd, empty container allotments for factory stuffing and empty container gate-ins at affected yards have been suspended until further notice.

Container Freight Station (CFS) activities remain operational, including stuffing operations and gate-ins.

The disruption follows a decision by the MECYASA to suspend operations from Friday last week.

The situation has affected both the return of empty import containers and the availability of empty containers for factory stuffing of export cargo.

According to local news, the Mundra Customs Brokers’ Association (MCBA) advised importers, exporters and customs brokers to keep records of unsuccessful container return attempts.

Meanwhile, it requested that shipping lines provide alternative nominated locations, extend delivery orders and related permissions without charges, and absorb additional costs arising from the disruption.
