Italian trade unions have scheduled two days of strikes and protests on 19 and 22 September 2025 to show solidarity with Gaza.

The strikes, organised by the CGIL among other unions, aim to protest against the Israeli military escalation in the Gaza Strip.

CGIL, one of Italy's largest trade unions, will strike on 19 September from 00:01 to 24:00 local time.

While the strike will not affect essential public services such as transport, schools, and healthcare, private sector workers, including freight transport, logistics, and road sectors, may participate in the strike according to local news.

Kuehne+Nagel reports that road access to the port and terminal operations may not be guaranteed or may experience significant delays during the strike.

According to local media, port workers may strike for up to 24 hours, excluding those involved in activities that impact constitutionally protected rights.

Other unions, including Cub, Adl, and Sgb, have called for a national general strike on 22 September.

This strike will affect public and private sectors, including local public transport, schools, universities, and ports. Rail transport disruptions will begin at 21:00 on 21 September and end at 20:59 on 22 September.
