China has experienced severe weather conditions in the past few days, with torrential rains causing significant disruptions across multiple regions.
The heavy rainfall has led to road collapses, resident evacuations, and increased flood risks, prompting authorities to raise emergency response levels and issue warnings for further downpours.
Chinese media channel Xinhua reports that Guangdong Province experienced intense rainfall, resulting in 54 road collapses and the evacuation of over 300 residents.
Red alerts were issued in several counties on Sunday morning, with more rain forecast in the coming days.
The impacted regions include eastern Guangdong, Gansu Province and the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. At the moment, no floods have been reported East of China and the Pearl River Delta.
However, the Guardian reported that the floods have damaged roads and vital infrastructure, cut off more than 130 rural villages, and evacuated over 80,000 people from their homes.
The increasing frequency of high-rainfall events in China has been linked to rising global temperatures.
