Port operations across the Shenzhen area and the Pearl River Delta resumed following weather-related disruptions caused by strong winds and heavy rainfall between 24 and 27 July 2026.

By 27 July, the severe weather caused by typhoon Noul had ceased, but challenges had shifted towards terminal congestion and limited equipment appointment availability.

Yantian and Shekou terminals resumed operations on 27 July. However, gate appointments at both locations were fully booked for the day.

Yantian also reported severe road congestion and elevated yard pressure, while roads around Shekou terminals remained normal despite limited appointment availability.

A shortage of terminal appointments became a key constraint, with available slots at Yantian and Shekou nearly exhausted by 27 July. At Yantian, export full containers were restricted to gate-in within seven days of a vessel’s estimated time of berthing (ETB).

Additional pressure developed at off-site container yards, where heavy backlogs were reported. The operational situation has resulted in higher costs through storage fees and truck waiting charges.

Containers also face the risk of missing vessel cut-off times, while factory production schedules and truck dispatch plans have been affected by ETB-7 gate-in requirements.

Kuehne+Nagel advised customers to closely monitor vessel ETBs, secure terminal appointments as early as possible, align factory loading schedules with terminal requirements, and maintain contact with company representatives for operational updates.
