The security environment in several regions of Mexico has shifted markedly following a national military operation in the state of Jalisco on 22 February, during which federal authorities confirmed the death of an influential cartel leader.
Subsequent actions by various groups have disrupted multiple transport corridors, with confirmed road blockades and vehicle fires reported in Jalisco, Colima, Guanajuato, Veracruz and Tamaulipas.
These developments have had direct effects on logistical infrastructure. The Port of Manzanillo has closed, while Guadalajara Airport has faced severe disruption, resulting in numerous flight cancellations, including cargo services.
Customs operations in Guadalajara and Manzanillo have also halted, and road networks across several states have experienced blockages and significant delays.
Extraordinary conditions have been observed across western Mexico, particularly on routes linking Guadalajara with the Pacific and the industrial Bajío region.
Maritime and customs operations have introduced temporary restrictions, including controlled physical access and the use of remote administrative procedures aligned with official guidance.
In Guadalajara, warehouse operations were paused during the first shift as a precaution, with later shifts subject to ongoing assessment. Continuous monitoring, route validation and shipment supervision remain reinforced to limit risks and maintain service continuity where possible.
