Ports in Portugal will witness a series of strikes in September to push for retirement amendments.

According to local news, there will be a series of 48-hour strikes at all ports on the following days:

  • On Monday, 16 September, beginning at 07:00 local time
  • On Monday, 23 September, beginning at 07:00 local time
  • On Monday, 30 September, beginning at 07:00 local time

Negotiations on the age of retirement have been ongoing in the country, which has yet to provide citizens with a concrete proposal.

Last year, port pilots staged prolonged strikes for the same issue, causing vessel traffic disruptions throughout November 2023.
