Kuehne+Nagel reports that the situation at the Port of Arica in Chile has reached critical levels following the closure of an off-dock facility and a surge in import and export volumes.
This disruption has significantly reduced handling capacity and extended waiting times for incoming trucks.
With one depot out of service, remaining operators have been forced to accommodate cargo that had been held at the port for approximately 30 days.
This backlog has led to longer dwell times for new arrivals, with several trucks reported awaiting unloading.
Efforts have been escalated through channels in Chile and Bolivia to accelerate clearance. However, extended waiting periods are expected.
