Nationwide strike in Nigeria halts terminal operations for two days

A customer advisory sent by APM Terminals informed customers that the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) decided to carry out a two-day warning strike on Tuesday, 5 September, and Wednesday, 6 September.

As a result, container handling operations at Nigeria's seaports will halt for the said two days.

The advisory published on the operator's website states, "In compliance with the directives of the NLC through the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), our operations will be suspended on Tuesday, September 5th, 2023, at 06:00 in preparation for the warning strike."

Nigeria has been witnessing political instability in the past few months. According to an announcement by Crisis24, protests are likely nationwide ahead of the presidential election tribunal scheduled on 6 September.
