First quarter data from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) shows that China's container port connectivity remained unaffected despite US tariffs.
According to a data analysis from Sea Intelligence, China's ports maintained high connectivity levels similar to those registered in 2024.
In fact, China remained the most connected country regarding liner shipping.
The stability in connectivity is attributed to shippers maintaining their presence in the Chinese market.
"If shippers are not making significant network changes, there is no reason why shipping lines should not call at ports in China,” explains Sea Intelligence.
However, this situation could change if tariffs persist and shippers are compelled to relocate their production sites outside China.
Overall, Asian container port connectivity surpasses global figures, according to the data.
The ranking considers various factors, including the number of ship calls per week, total capacity offered on land, the number of shipping lines operating in the country, and the number of other countries connected through direct services.
