On the afternoon of 27 September, the container ship ONE Hammersmith encountered engine failure while navigating from Singapore to Rotterdam. The incident caused the vessel to drift for several hours.
Today's seaexplorer data shows that the vessel is still anchored outside the Port of Rotterdam, with significant delays expected for its following port calls.
Container carrier Yang Ming issued an advisory on 7 October stating that the vessel's owner has not officially declared general average.
However, a rescue team has appointed an average adjuster - a specialist who calculates the financial contributions required from the parties involved in a maritime incident - to handle the collection of salvage costs.
Yang Ming adds that cargo will only be released once the adjusters confirm that the necessary costs have been provided.
