Belgium’s railway network is set to experience a full week of disruption later this month, following confirmation of industrial action by national rail unions.
The strike will affect both the state railway operator SNCB/NMBS and the rail infrastructure group Infrabel.
Union representatives have announced that the stoppage will run from Monday, 26 January, to Friday, 30 January 2026.
According to The Brussels Times, the action is carried out as a unified response to proposed employment changes scheduled for introduction in 2026.
If no agreement is reached before the set date, the nation could experience significant operational interruption, impacting both passenger and cargo rail.
