Belgian farmers plan to block access to three ports

Farmers associated with the United Young Farmers (Verenigde Jonge Landbouwers) and the Farmers Defense Force intend to stage blockade protests at the ports of Antwerp, Ghent, and Zeebrugge on Thursday, 14 March.

The farmers have been protesting against EU-wide agricultural policies affecting their sector for several months. Earlier this year, the farmers managed to cause significant delays after blocking access to the Port of Antwerp.

Disruptions to the movement of containers to and from the ports will likely occur at the affected ports. Law enforcement intervention is also expected around the ports.
