A DB freight train and a truck transporting construction waste crashed on Friday, 13 December, close to Marienborn, Germany.
The accident damaged the railway sleepers and rails over a 100-meter radius.
Consequently, the impacted line segment has been shut down entirely, leaving only detours accessible, albeit with several limitations.
This suspension is anticipated to cause delays and irregular connections to and from Rotterdam and Duisburg.
Trains travelling between the hinterland and the ports of Hamburg and Bremerhaven are also impacted.
The damaged section was cleaned over the weekend, and plans for repairs and reopening are currently underway.
The earliest expected reopening is on Wednesday, 18 December.
