US launches operation to guide stranded vessels out of the Strait of Hormuz

US President Donald Trump announced that the United States will begin assisting stranded ships out of the Strait of Hormuz, with operations starting Monday morning local time.

The announcement was made on the president’s social media platform, Truth Social, where he stated that multiple countries had requested US support to help their vessels exit the waterway.

Trump said the United States had informed these countries that it would guide their ships safely through what he described as restricted waters, allowing them to continue their business freely and efficiently.

He framed the initiative as a humanitarian operation, explaining that several vessels were reportedly running low on food and other essential supplies.

Support for the operation will be provided by the US military. US Central Command announced that it would assist the mission using warships, more than 100 aircraft, and approximately 15,000 soldiers.

Separately, Iran reported that six Iranian crew members had been released from the container vessel Touska following diplomatic efforts.

Pakistan’s foreign ministry also stated that 22 crew members held aboard an Iranian container vessel had been evacuated to Pakistan and would be handed over to Iranian authorities on Monday, describing the step as a confidence‑building measure.
