Update: Rail services at Sech Terminal expected to end in week 12

After weeks of rail service interruptions, operations are expected to resume next week

Due to maintenance work, rail services at Sech Terminal in Genoa Port were suspended for several weeks.


According to Kuehne+Nagel sources, rail services are expected to resume at the end of week 12.


At the moment, interruptions are still expected. Therefore, alternative options and costs could apply.

The nearby area of Sech terminal at Genoa Port has been undergoing civil works since 11 January 2024.


According to the port's authority, the civil works have not been completed.


As a result, rail operations to and from the terminal will remain suspended for safety reasons.


This suspension will continue until Wednesday, 20 March 2024.

On 11 January, rail services moving cargo to and from the Sech Terminal at the Port of Genoa, Italy, were suspended due to renewal works in the area.


According to the port authority, the work will continue until 3 March 2024.


According to the latest update from Hapag-Lloyd, "During this period, for all vessels calling SECH terminal, all containers from and to Milan and Lombardian Area will be managed at the standard Combined Rail conditions."


French carrier CMA CGM also announced that cargo delivered to VTE Terminal and Genoa Port Terminal (GPT) would be handled normally.
