Rail disruptions continue to impact Germany's network

Ongoing closures and operational issues lead to delays and cancellations

by Manal Barakat, SeaNewsEditor

The German rail network is currently experiencing disruptions due to a combination of infrastructure issues, operational incidents, and ongoing construction works.

Key hubs, including the Mannheim marshalling yard, remain affected by closures, resulting in severe delays, train cancellations, and rerouting across multiple regions.

The disruptions are caused by several factors, including an overdraft in a construction project at the Mannheim marshalling yard, as well as signal malfunctions between Bad Bevensen and Uelzen.

The situation remains dynamic, and further updates will be provided as soon as the Mannheim marshalling yard reopens and other affected routes return to normal operation.

Despite plans to implement diversions on the network, delays at ports and inland terminals are also expected due to these incidents.

In addition, a long-term construction project is planned from 06.02.2026 to 15.12.2026 between Nuremberg, Regensburg, and Passau.
