Prolonged blockade in Colombia keeps Buenaventura corridor blocked

Traffic backlog reaches Buga due to ongoing community blockades since 14 October

Kuehne+Nagel reports that the transport corridor to and from Buenaventura Port has been closed due to ongoing community blockades that began last week.

The blockades began on Tuesday, 14 October, and authorities have yet to confirm when the route will be fully reopened.

Footage circulated in the media shows hundreds of trucks unable to access the route to the port facility.

While some vehicles have managed to pass during brief windows of partial access, the heavy traffic led to a significant backlog last week.

The disruption is expected to cause congestion at the port once the road reopens.

In addition, delays are expected in both receiving containers and retrieving import cargo.
