Update: French union suspends strikes in container ports

The planned strikes are now cancelled to ease tensions and allow constructive negotiations

Kuehne+Nagel reports that the planned strikes impacting all container ports in France have been suspended.

 

The National Federation of Ports & Dockers suspended all forms of the strike as of 17 March to allow constructive bargaining.

 

As a result, the 4-hour stoppages and the 72-hour strike originally planned on 18, 19 and 20 March will now be cancelled.

In a new announcement, dockworkers in France extended their labour action across all ports in the country.

 

The strikes, which have been severely impacting port operations since the beginning of the year, will not go on for several dates in March.

 

Kuehne+Nagel reports that all ports will witness 4-hour stoppages on the following dates:

 

  • 4 March
  • 6 March
  • 10 March
  • 12 March
  • 14 March
  • 24 March
  • 26 March and
  • 28 March

 

In addition, port operations will be disrupted for 72 hours during full-day strikes on 18, 19 and 20 March.
