ONE vessel collides with floating bridge in Suez Canal

Vessels continue to transit the Canal normally, says official

The Suez Canal Authority announced that container vessel ONE Orpheus suffered a steering failure while passing the Canal, which caused her to collide with a floating bridge.

The collision occurred while the ship was sailing northbound from Singapore to the Netherlands.

According to the Canal’s authority, four tugboats were deployed to carry out the towing operation. In a statement, officials assured the public that traffic through the Canal continues to flow normally, “unaffected by this emergency.”

ONE Orpheus is a 9040 TEU ship currently deployed on ONE’s Asia–Europe FP1 service. At the moment, data shows that the ship is still at a standstill in the Canal.
