Nationwide strike announced in France against austerity

Multiple unions in France have called for a nationwide strike on Tuesday, 2 December 2025.

The unions participating in the strike include the CGT, the FSU and Solidaires, which represent workers in the civil service, rail transport and education.

The strike is part of a mobilisation against austerity measures and a call for higher wages.

Although the French government is currently discussing the bill in the National Assembly, the unions want to pressure the government to revise the current copy, describing it as carrying "serious regressions."

At the moment, it is not clear if the maritime sector will join the strikes. However, rail transport is likely to be affected.
