The MSC-operated containership MSC Houston V encountered severe weather conditions while navigating the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Portugal.

The vessel was en route from Piraeus, Greece, to Liverpool, United Kingdom, when it encountered rough seas and wind gusts caused by Storm Martinho.

According to a Splash247 report, this resulted in a partial stack collapse, causing at least 15 containers to fall overboard and many others to be damaged.

Due to the adverse conditions, MSC Houston V could not dock at the Portuguese port of Leixoes and instead sought refuge at the port of Vigo in Spain.

Seaexplorer data shows that the 4432-TEU boxship was still docked at Vigo Port when publishing this article.

Port authorities at Vigo assured that the cargo on board is not hazardous and does not pose any risk.

The duration of MSC Houston V's stay remains uncertain as the repositioning and damage assessment are expected to be time-consuming.
