Major carriers continue to sail through Hormuz despite heightened tension

While sailings in the Strait of Hormuz remain uninterrupted, shipping lines adjust regional operations to Haifa Port

The latest developments in the Israeli-Iranian war prompted respective updates from container carriers as concern rises about a potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

The United States intervened over the weekend by bombing several Iranian nuclear facilities, raising concerns for further escalation.

On Sunday, French shipping line CMA CGM reported steady operations and no disruptions to its logistics chains in the affected area. However, the company has set up a dedicated monitoring cell to enable timely monitoring of the situation.

Similarly, Maersk reports that it continues to sail through the Strait of Hormuz while closely evaluating the situation, especially considering the US involvement in the conflict.

Meanwhile, Israeli carrier ZIM's latest update indicates that activities at the country’s principal ports, Ashdod and Haifa, continue normally.

Nevertheless, Maersk announced a temporary halt to vessel calls and cargo acceptance at Haifa port last week.

Hapag-Lloyd has also decided to reduce service to Haifa. The carrier mentioned that while its Atlantic Loop 7 (AL7) service is still calling at the port, the East Med Shuttle 3 (EM3) service has suspended cargo acceptance bound for Haifa.

Kuehne+Nagel continues to monitor the situation closely and will report updates as they become available.
