Container vessel MV Groton was attacked on Saturday, 3 August, in the Gulf of Aden with ballistic missiles.

The British maritime agency UKMTO and the British security firm Ambrey reported that a missile targeted the vessel 125 nautical miles east of Yemen's Port of Aden.

According to a Reuters report published today, 5 August, the ship "has arrived safely in Djibouti, and the strike caused no injuries or water ingress."

However, the media reported that a fire broke out in some containers hit by the missile on the main deck.

Seaexplorer data shows that the Groton is a 2490-TEU ship deployed on CMA CGM's BIGEX2 service.

The ship was hit while on its journey from Dubai to Jeddah and is currently anchored in Djibouti.
