High winds, disruption expected at Liverpool, Dublin ports

Storm Agnes is forecast to hit western areas of the UK and Ireland on Wednesday and Thursday

Disruption to operations at the ports of Liverpool and Dublin is expected on Wednesday and Thursday this week as Storm Agnes approaches the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The Met Office issued a Yellow Warning yesterday, in which it announced that Storm Agnes will move into western areas of the UK and Ireland on Wednesday, with the strongest winds most likely on Irish Sea coasts.

“As well as some very strong winds for many, Storm Agnes will also bring some heavy rain, with the highest totals more likely in Scotland, northern England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Around 60mm of rain is possible in a few places over high ground in Scotland,” says Met Office Chief Meteorologist Steve Ramsdale.

The office further alerted the public that strong winds could lead to damage to buildings, power cuts, and transport disruption.

According to Kuehne+Nagel sources, operations at Liverpool Port are likely to be impacted, with partial and full stops highly possible.
