Extreme heat forces operational restrictions across Rotterdam terminals

Terminal closures, suspended landside activities and disrupted gate operations impact container handling on 26 June

Extreme heat forces operational restrictions across Rotterdam terminals

Extreme heat conditions are impacting container terminal operations in the Port of Rotterdam, prompting several facilities to implement safety-driven restrictions.

The ECT Delta Terminal has been closed, while the Euromax Terminal is scheduled to cease operations from 10:00 until at least 21:00 local time.

Meanwhile, APM Terminals Maasvlakte II has already halted landside activities.

These measures have been introduced to safeguard personnel and maintain operational safety standards, with container handling delays expected as a consequence.

In parallel, APM Terminals Maasvlakte II has indicated that prevailing weather conditions may affect gate operations over the weekend. This situation may result in further delays to container handling processes.

Similar weather conditions are also expected in the North of Europe, including Germany and France, but no port restrictions were announced.
