Explosion aboard Maersk Sana leaves vessel adrift in the Atlantic

Deployed on the Transpacific service TP11, the ship reportedly experienced an explosion in the engine room

On 28 April, an incident aboard the vessel Maersk Sana injured three crew members.

 

The event occurred in the ship's engine room, but Danish carrier Maersk is still investigating the cause.

 

Unconfirmed reports suggest that an explosion in the engine room injured the crew and disabled the vessel, leaving the vessel without main engine power approximately 354 nautical miles east of Bermuda.

 

According to seaexplore data, the ship, deployed on the Transpacific service TP11, was heading from New York to Singapore when the explosion occurred

 

The 8450-TEU Maersk Sana, built in 2004 and flagged in Singapore, remains adrift in the Atlantic Ocean near Bermuda.
