On 1 August 2025, the Evergreen containership Ever Lunar lost approximately 50 containers while anchored in Callao Bay, Peru.

The severe rolling of the vessel caused the containers to fall into the sea, temporarily closing the Port of Callao and disrupting cargo operations and vessel traffic in the region.

Kuehne+Nagel reports that operations at terminals DP World Callao, APM Terminals, and other facilities were suspended due to unsafe navigation conditions and low visibility.

Authorities in Peru have confirmed that the containers did not contain hazardous goods.

Meanwhile, Taiwanese media, Taipei Times, reports that the liner Evergreen confirmed that tugboat support had been mobilised to assist in removing floating containers.

Seaexplorer data shows that the 8508-TEU vessel is currently at anchor off the coast of Peru with delays to its next port calls.
