CMA CGM and Saudi terminal operator Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT) have signed definitive agreements to jointly develop and operate Terminal 4 at Jeddah Islamic Port. The project, undertaken in collaboration with the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), represents an investment of approximately USD 434 million under RSGT’s existing concession.
The new container terminal is expected to add up to 2.6 million TEU of annual handling capacity. It will include deep-water berths capable of accommodating the world’s largest container vessels, supported by advanced terminal technologies and ten new ship-to-shore cranes.
The additional infrastructure is intended to improve productivity, service reliability and access to international markets while enabling Jeddah to handle larger vessels and growing cargo volumes. The partners said the development would strengthen the port’s position on major global shipping routes and support more resilient import and export supply chains.
The partnership combines RSGT’s local operating expertise with CMA CGM’s global shipping network, logistics capabilities and terminal portfolio. CMA CGM currently holds interests in 64 port terminals worldwide and is expanding its terminal operations at strategic gateways.
The agreement was signed in Paris in connection with a French-Saudi investment roundtable. It supports Saudi Arabia’s National Transport and Logistics Strategy and Vision 2030, which aim to strengthen the country’s role as a global trade and logistics hub
