Container vessel ONE Majesty hit as attacks on shipping continue on Day 12 of Iran war

Commercial shipping in and around the Strait of Hormuz came under renewed pressure on Wednesday, as multiple merchant vessels were struck by projectiles while the conflict between Iran and the US‑Israel alliance entered its 12th day.

Maritime security agencies confirmed three separate incidents within a few hours, underlining the sustained risk to vessel operations in the region.

Container vessel ONE Majesty affected

Among the vessels impacted was the Japanese‑operated container ship ONE Majesty (6,724 TEU), which reported being hit by an unknown projectile approximately 25 nautical miles northwest of Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. According to maritime security consultancy Vanguard Tech, the impact caused structural damage, resulting in an estimated 10‑centimetre hole in the vessel’s hull.

All crew members on board ONE Majesty were safe and accounted for, and no injuries were reported. Following the incident, the vessel proceeded to a safe anchorage to allow for inspection and damage assessment.

Additional incidents reported

The ONE Majesty incident occurred alongside two other confirmed attacks on the same day:

A Thai‑flagged bulk carrier was struck in the Strait of Hormuz near Oman, resulting in a fire on board and a temporary crew evacuation.

A third merchant vessel reported damage after being hit by a projectile northwest of Dubai, with no casualties reported.

The latest incidents highlight the ongoing security challenges facing commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and adjacent waters, despite reduced traffic levels. Maritime authorities continue to advise vessels operating in the region to exercise heightened caution.
