CMA CGM has marked the first anniversary of its She Sails initiative with a significant milestone: the number of women serving at sea has more than doubled in one year.
Launched in December 2024, the programme increased female representation from 200 to 403 by the end of 2025, exceeding initial expectations.
Christine Cabau Woehrel, Executive Vice President for Operations and Assets, stated: “More women are accessing key positions, their career paths are accelerating, their confidence is growing, and our teams are gaining in both diversity and performance.”
Building on this momentum, CMA CGM has set a target of 1,000 women at sea by 2030. The initiative aims to promote maritime careers for women and ensure equal opportunities for advancement across the fleet.
Career progression has been a notable outcome of the programme.
In 2025, 74 promotions were recorded, including eight to senior officer roles, 48 from cadet to junior officer, and one from deckhand to qualified deckhand.
In just one year, our programme has proven its effectiveness; the results exceed our expectations.

She Sails has also expanded its reach through a network of 42 ambassadors in 19 countries and partnerships with maritime academies.
Three agreements have been signed in Abu Dhabi and India, with further collaborations planned in the Philippines and Indonesia to strengthen cadet recruitment.
CMA CGM emphasises that these achievements represent both progress and responsibility, reaffirming its commitment to gender diversity and equal opportunities across all teams.
