A new national day of action will be held in Belgium on Wednesday, 25 June.
The action is led by Belgium’s joint trade union front, FGTB, CSC, and CGSLB. The demonstration forms part of an ongoing campaign to address unresolved labour concerns that began in December 2024.
According to local news, the formal strike notice has been issued, covering not only employees working on the day itself but also those whose shifts begin on the evening of 26 June or conclude during the night of 25 to 26 June.
While the specific implications for port operations remain unclear, the Port of Antwerp is already grappling with significant congestion.
This has led to notable disruptions in supply chains and increased logistics costs across Europe.
Given the scale of the planned action, further disturbances at the port are anticipated, potentially compounding existing challenges for freight movement and operational efficiency.
