Kuehne+Nagel reports that protests blocked the entrance to one of Guatemala's main ports, the Port of Santo Tomás de Castilla, was blocked on Tuesday, 6 August.
According to local news provider Prensa Libre, the blockade was carried out by former employees who opposed certain decisions of the port's board of directors.
However, after nearly 72 hours, the blockade at the port has been successfully lifted, allowing normal operations to resume.
The blockade significantly impacted the port's activities, preventing the entry of approximately 1,800 import and export containers. Local media further reports that exporters incurred losses of $500,000 in three days.
The resolution came after the intervention of the Policía Nacional Civil (PNC) council, which played a crucial role in mediating the situation.
