Update: 04.07.2024
The railway damaged by the 19 June derailment incident is on its way to full recovery.
The port authorities announced the work will be handed back at 12:00 local time today, 4 July.
Nevertheless, traffic to the port of Felixstowe will be disturbed until tomorrow, when normal services will resume.
Since the dealignment took place, some services were diverted to the South Terminal with limited availability, which disturbed the container transport activity in Felixstowe Port during the last weeks.
Update: 24.06.2024
The Felixstowe Dock and Rail Company (FDRC) estimates that its rail network will fully reopen on Tuesday, 2 July.
Last week, rail traffic was suspended after a train derailed at the Port of Felixstowe.
According to an update from the FDRC, the derailed train was sectioned into 3 parts, and wagons and containers were removed.
Furthermore, Network Rail is taking control of the full recovery and removing the remaining sections. The timeline for this is to be advised.
On a positive note, the local Kuehne+Nagel team reports all affected deliveries have successfully been recovered, thanks to the close working relationships with strategic haulage partners.
