Tropical Storm Tapah caused widespread transport disruptions in Hong Kong on Monday, 8 September.
Meteorological projections show that the storm is advancing north-northwest at 20 kilometres per hour and is expected to reach southern China's coastline later today.
Tapah will weaken following landfall in Guangdong Province, according to forecasts, which expect the system to transition to tropical depression status within twelve hours.
Northern Vietnam is also forecast to experience heavy rainfall from 9 September, despite avoiding direct impact from the storm's core.
The Gulf of Tonkin and eastern coastal areas may encounter thunderstorms and strong gusts from the system's outer bands.
Thailand will remain unaffected by direct storm impact, though the system will intensify the south-west monsoon prevailing across much of the country.
Cargo transport, including maritime and port operations, will likely experience interruptions during the storm.
