Traffic restrictions impact cargo movement in Valencia and Barcelona

Extraordinary control measures and mobility restrictions are causing delays in cargo services and limiting access to ports

After several days of devastating floods, the Spanish authorities deployed thousands of soldiers for rescue operations in Valencia.

A large part of the city's infrastructure was damaged by severe weather, causing significant transport limitations.

Kuehne+Nagel reports that services to and from the Port of Valencia are currently heavily disrupted.

The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) has implemented extraordinary control measures, restricting vehicle movement to and from Valencia and its metropolitan area.

Except for essential goods, vehicles can only move between 22:00 and 07:00 local time. This restriction limits operational transport capacity and affects access to the Port of Valencia and container depots.

In Barcelona, floods have impacted the south and southwest of the city.

On 4 November, traffic in the areas surrounding Barcelona Port is only allowed between 00:00 and 14:00. As a result, cargo movement delays are expected in the subsequent hours.

Kuehne+Nagel monitors the situation closely and will report any updates as they become available.
