Dutch trade unions FNV Havens and CNV Vakmensen have successfully negotiated a new collective labour agreement with APM Terminals Maasvlakte II.
According to the union, the deal, which was finalised on 12 June after six rounds of intensive discussions, introduces phased wage increases and protection against the impact of automation on jobs.
The agreement covers the period from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2027 and provides for an annual wage increase of 4%.
The unions have recommended the deal, and union members are set to vote on it in July.
FNV Havens remarked, "We have not been able to realise our full commitment on all points, but we believe that there is a balanced package of employment conditions that we can present to the members."
This development comes after a series of strikes that port workers conducted at APM's container terminals, leading to disruption and delays.
