The new T3 terminal at the Port of Gdansk, Poland, has officially opened, marking a significant milestone in its development since construction began in October 2022.

Designed to enhance the port’s capacity and efficiency, the terminal transforms the Baltic Hub into one of Europe’s largest container facilities, positioning it as a critical gateway to Central and Eastern Europe.

Spanning a 36-hectare artificial island, the T3 terminal includes a 717-metre-long, 18-metre-deep quay equipped with advanced technology such as eight ship-to-shore (STS) cranes and 28 automatic rail-mounted gantry (RMG) cranes.

These cranes ensure safer and more efficient operations, with remote operation stations providing a modern working environment for operators.

The terminal successfully began test operations in February 2025, with the CMA CGM Tivoli being the first vessel serviced. The successful trial demonstrated the terminal's operational readiness ahead of full commissioning, scheduled for September 2025.

However, the terminal managed to go ahead with operations earlier this month.

T3 increased the port’s annual handling capacity by 1.5 million TEUs, reaching a total of 4.5 million TEUs.

This expansion is expected to strengthen the Port of Gdansk’s status as a leading transhipment hub on the Baltic Sea, serving not only Poland but also the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine and other neighbouring markets.
