South Korean rail workers started a series of “partial” strikes in protest against the privatization of rail transport. A report by crisis management firm Crisis24 revealed the strikes started on 8 June and will continue until Thursday, 15 June.
The National Railroad Workers' Union called on its members to reduce the capacity of rail services nationwide. According to Kuehne+Nagel sources, operations began to slow down, but transportation has not been impacted so far. However, significant delays are likely to occur during the strike week.
The labour action will reportedly be combined with rallies in the country. “Organizers said 4,000 union members will join strike-related demonstrations across the country [on] June 15,” added the Crisis24 report.
