Railway strike in South Korea announced

A nationwide railway strike is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, 23 December, in South Korea following a breakdown in negotiations over performance-related bonuses.

Talks between the parties concluded without agreement, prompting the union to confirm industrial action.

Kuehne+Nagel reports that the strike is expected to affect passenger and freight services across the country, with significant disruption anticipated during the holiday travel period.

Further discussions may occur during the strike period, but no timetable for renewed negotiations has been confirmed.
