A general strike is planned for tomorrow, 3 October, in connection with the aid flotilla that sailed to Gaza. Kuehne+Nagel reports that disruptions are expected randomly across Italy, affecting road and railway services, as well as port gates, with a significant impact anticipated at the Genoa Port.
In addition, the Italian railways operator, RFI, has announced a series of scheduled railway interruptions from 29 September to 14 December 2025. These disruptions will affect several key routes and services nationwide.
The following are the details of the rail interruptions:
From September 29 to December 14, 2025
- Closure of the Bologna–Prato railway line
- Reduced frequency of weekly trains to/from La Spezia and Livorno via Padova, Marzaglia, and Bologna
- Trains will be rerouted via the Pontremolese line, resulting in reduced capacity
From October 3 to 5, 2025
- Interruption in the Genoa railway hub due to upgrade works on the Genova Voltri–Genova Brignole line
- Schedule changes and route deviations for trains to/from Rivalta Scrivia–La Spezia and Milan–La Spezia
- No possibility to operate extra trains on the Genoa–La Spezia line on October 4
From October 5 until the end of the 2025 timetable
- New works on the line to/from Gioia Tauro
- Shorter trains and reduced capacity
From October 10 to 13, 2025
- Continuous interruption of both directions on the Modena–Castelfranco–Pm Lavino–Pm S. Viola section
- Waterproofing works on the Samoggia bridge and switch replacement in the Castelfranco Emilia area
- No train service to/from Ravenna via Marzaglia and Rivalta
- No train service to/from Bologna on October 11
- Trains to/from Padova will be rerouted via Verona–Milan, with longer travel times
On October 4, 6, 18, 20 / November 1, 3, 15, 17, 29 / December 1, 6, 2025
- Interruption of the Brescia–Verona section due to RFI measures
- No train service to/from Verona via Rivalta
- Route deviations for trains to/from Trieste–Milan and Trento–Rivalta, with possible risk of cancellations
