According to rail operator METRANS, Slovenia's railway infrastructure authority has announced a series of planned railway closures from October to December 2024.


The closures are necessary for reconstruction and modernisation works and will affect train schedules and capacity across various sections.


Following is an overview of the planned closures in the country:


Murska Sobota-Dankovci: The road between these stations will be closed fully from 06:00 to 18:00 local time on 26-27 October 2024.


Lj. Siska-Kranj: This section will experience full closures on 27 October, 10 November, 17 November, 14 December, and 15 December 2024 from 08:50 to 17:00.


Jesenice-Jesenice border: A continuous full closure will occur from 23 November 2024, 07:00, to 25 November 2024, 05:30.


Line 20/21 near Ljubljana: Due to modernisation, this line will be fully closed from 29 November 2024, 22:30 to 02 December 2024, 04:00.


Divaca-Koper: This section will undergo continuous closures for 36 hours on the following dates:

  • 10 November 2024, 07:00 to 11 November 2024, 19:00
  • 24 November 2024, 07:00 to 25 November 2024, 19:00
  • 08 December 2024, 07:00 to 09 December 2024, 19:00


Additional road closures in December are expected to impact Route 50 and Route 20 near Ljubljana and the bridge over Dunajska Cesta.
