Hundreds of containers afloat outside Kaohsiung Port

A container vessel capsized and sank on Friday morning with empty containers reportedly afloat

A report by FleetMon revealed that a containership outside the Port of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, capsized and sank on Friday morning, 21 July.


Containership Angel reported water ingress and heavy portside list before it sank, leaving hundreds of containers floating in the sea. All 19 crew were evacuated and transferred to the port.


Angel had 1349 containers, according to FleetMon, and a navigational warning was issued to alert ships of the floating containers.
