In a statement made on Monday, a Houthi military spokesperson claimed targeting three vessels "for attempting to approach ports bound for Israel," according to a Reuters report.

Two of the vessels are reportedly container vessels SC Montreal and Maersk Kowloon.

Reuters revealed that the SC Montreal was targeted in the Arabian Sea while travelling to Salalah, Oman, while the Maersk Kowloon was in the western Indian Ocean, also en route from Salalah.

On Monday, the British maritime security company Ambrey reported two explosions southwest of Al Dhubab, Yemen.

Earlier, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency had reported that the ship and crew of one of the targetted ships were safe and had proceeded to their next port of call.

Seaexplorer data show that the container vessel SC Montreal is currently berthed at the Port of Salalah. Meanwhile, Maersk Kowloon shows as heading towards the Port of New York, the next port on its route after Salalah.
